This weeks peculiar image was made by Elephant Artist Sri Siam at the Lamphang Elephant Camp in Thailand. It is hard to tell whether the elephants actually know what they are drawing, or that they have learned to imitate a teachers work or their caretaker is directing them how to draw. Nonetheless it is unnaturally fascinating to see them busy. Watch the included video and

When elephants are capable of practising such a peaceful exercise, isn't it amazing that the South African governement recently announced that it would lift a 13–year old ban on the culling of elephants? (article National Geographic)

I lov drawing elephants, but it's tricky

What is your view on the coronavirus?

Siri Beerends: I really embrace the idea that viruses can teach us a lesson in modesty. It is necessary that our position as the dominant species on the planet is being challenged. I also agree that it is a mistake to think that we are becoming Gods. But unfortunately, this is actually what is happening now. Corona doesn’t teach us to be modest, it teaches us how we can -as quickly as possible- go back to business as usual: saving our capitalistic economy.
