Printing with Grass

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence? Try a completely new way of gardening! This 3D Grass Printer allows to create a garden in any shape you can imagine!

Instead of using ink, this printer spills a mixture of grass seeds, water and soil. While the solution applies brown, its drawings sprout and become green with time and light, designing objects out of living grass.

As the creators of Print GREEN, a team of students at the University of Maribor in Slovenia, explain: “It unites art, technology and nature. The result of the project are printed pictures that turn green over time.”

The application of this device could be endless, what about a comfortable pair of grass flip-flops?
