Moonlight Collector

Feel unhappy? Little depressed? Headaches? Why not try a little trip to de Arizona desert? Richard Chaplin built the Interstellar Light Collector. As is often the case, tragedy was the precipitating event leading to the ILC. Saving the life of a friend with terminal cancer became Richard Joseph Chapin's personal mission, drawing him into an intense exploration of full-spectrum light therapy.

The Interstellar Light Collector rotates a full 360 degrees, and can be aligned with the position of the moon to 1/10,000 of an inch in accuracy. With a collection surface of 3,000 square feet, the collected light can be focused into an area as large as 10 by ten feet or as small as 1mm that can pulsated or applied as a laser and transmitted directly into the accompanying research facility. The whole thing feels a bit like a crossover between Spielbergs' Close Encounters of the Third Kind and a Lourdes pilgrimage to me, but as we read the testimonials on the website, you might consider throwing away your old tanning bed—

<> When I received the moonlight in February, something inside changed. It was different than the times before no euphoria or physical changes, just a feeling that something really old and dark had been lifted and I said to myself that I donít need any more for right now. I really cannot explain it, but it felt profound, like a spiritual change.

  • Dear Richard, I am writing to you from Newstalk, a national radio broadcaster here in Ireland. We are hoping to arrange an interview with you in relation to The Interstellar light collector. The interview would be scheduled for this week between 2pm and 4:30pm GMT with our afternoon presenter Sean Moncrieff. It would be an informative piece going through some of the reasons behind the invention and it's progress. It is quite a conversational show so if there is anything you would like to highlighted please let me know and I will brief the presenter. I hope this suits. Please contact me on the number listed below or drop me a line right back. Thank you for your time. Kind regards, Brian O'Neill.
