After last year’s successful Living labs at DGTL and Welcome to the Village we started 2018 with another. This time with at their Annual Meeting in January where over 8000 employees attended. The ECO coin team produced a tailor-made program to encourage attendees of the event to become more aware of sustainability and community inclusive activities but also to earn ECOs by participating in them. In total over 100,000 ECO coins were earned!

There were many ways to earn ECOs over the course of the two-day event from the simple task of using and returning hard cups, planting seeds to create green areas or biking to the event to attending upcycling workshops or ordering a coffee from the sign language café.  All this created great engagement. Some participants really got into the spirit and had by the end of the event, earned over 1000 ECOs!

The idea of the activation was that total of ECOs earned together unlocked nice community rewards at the event. The collective score was displayed on a live dashboard for everyone to see. Many took delight in watching the dashboard surpass 50,000, at which point a secret area at the event was opened for everyone to enjoy. The most active participants of the program could also track their own score and claim one of the rewards ranging from small sustainably produced products to a stay at a hotel whose concept is based on inclusive employment in tourism.

We had a great time at the event and we would like to extend a big thanks to everyone who took part and a special thanks to the dedicated events team who helped us to bring this living lab to life. To learn more about our living labs for festivals and event visit our new enquiry page here.
