This peculiar image made me realize: It is in fact totally miraculous that people are capable to perceive machines as 'sexy'. How did that ever happen?

Good question Julie. Is this a car for a girl, a boy or a latent transsexual? :-)

In the end it's all Walt's fault.. but lets not blame Walt. It is natural.

Television, slotmachines and vibrators all have one thing in common: they are machines, capable of exiting a person. It's not so miraculous that cars have a similar effect on people. Products should sell and it so happens that people tend to fall for good design, appearances and also human resemblance. In 2006 Disney/Pixar brought out the "Cars"-movie in which the machines on wheels come to life. I think it's funny that the artists approach the cars as human beings: not the headlights, but the window-shields were chosen to perform the eyes [people were banned in the movie, therefore the windows became sort of useless and putting up the eyes there was the best solution]. The influence of these movies on how we experience our machines are not to be underestimated. Disney knows this principle only too well, so in the end it's all Walt's fault...
