In ancient times heroes like Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus explored the unknown territories of the globe. Today world traveling has become a teenage tourist activity, but luckily there are always other spheres to be conquered. No, I don't mean space traveling that used to be so fashionable in the sixties. Forget about the Universe boys, here is the Metaverse! Some daring discoverers already made a Metaverse Roadmap (PDF) with all the stuff we should know about this culturally emerged nature.
"What happens when video games meet Web 2.0? When virtual worlds meet geospatial maps of the planet? When simulations get real and life and business go virtual? When you use a virtual Earth to navigate the physical Earth, and your avatar becomes your online agent? What happens is the metaverse."

Although that link is just to the PDF, going to the website - http://www.metaverseroadmap.org - also provides a link to a web based version. We needed to be able to print it for physical distribution but, of course, wanted to make it available to read online as well. In whatever format, we're very glad you found it valuable. Signing up for the contact list will keep you up on our continuing work, and we do solicit input from that group. And thanks for pointing out something you feel should have been included. It is a big topic, we are getting so much from the reactions and comments that will help us be even more comprehensive in the next update. Why PDF?! Nobody is printing anymore. I hate downloading PDFs, because they are non-transparent data, which in 9 out of 10 cases makes me have to remove it from my hard-disk again. Just for the people who tend to think like me: this PDF is worth the click – if you are interested in the subject that is... Nice to see that so many examples of browsing/navigating have already been posted on the Next Nature blog, but in this study they are compared and given context to get an insight of The Metaverse Scenario.
