It's not really a man, and it's not really a robot. Nor is it a cyborg, although this might be the most accurate description. This $1 million dollar bionic something is a showcase of what we are currently capable of installing in human beings along with a look at the future of augmented biology.
Rex, as the bionic entity is called, is created by Shadow Robot Company and currently on display at the Science Museum in London. Among the artificial organs are: lungs, spleen, heart and kidneys. There are also pieces of cybernetic hardware, such as the arms, hands and hips. For more details it is worth to check out the infographic.
We are almost able to create a living creature out of different artificial systems. Interesting is that grown artificial organs are replacements and cybernetic organs are improvements. So why invest money in replacing organs if we can improve them?
